Mrs. Reurts-Klappe is a great-granddaughter of Thijmen Albers Klappe, who was born in 1831 in Emmeloord on Schokland. Thijmen Albers, like his father, became a fisherman at a young age. In 1855, Thijmen moved to Vollenhove, where he married Johanna Mossel in 1857. The couple had seven children.
Thijmen, who was nicknamed 'Ouwe Boertje', remained active as a fisherman until a very old age. He passed away in 1922 at the age of 91 in his hometown. In 1916, an unknown artist painted a portrait of Thijmen. That painting is on display at the Stadsmuseum Vollenhove.
The blood coral necklace from the Klappe family is a valuable addition to the permanent exhibition at Museum Schokland. The object is now on display in the museum's exhibition.
