UNESCO World Heritage in the Kingdom of the Netherlands tells a unique story that connects our history, culture, and nature. UNESCO World Heritage consists of the most extraordinary and significant buildings, areas, and nature in the world. We want to preserve the thirteen World Heritage sites in our Kingdom and pass them on to future generations. It is essential to make young people aware of the importance of this unique and irreplaceable World Heritage and the stories they tell from a young age.
To achieve this, the World Heritage Foundation Netherlands has developed various educational materials that fit different school years. From kindergarten to high school and vocational education students: there are teaching packages that make the story of the World Heritage in our Kingdom accessible for every age group. The educational packages provide teaching materials and activities that help students understand what World Heritage entails, why it is so important, and how we can protect it for the future.
Through World Heritage Foundation Netherlands, we offer information about all educational opportunities, including the teaching package for kindergarten, teaching modules for the upper grades of primary education, higher education, and specific lessons for the lower grades of secondary school. With this, we aim to introduce students not only to the individual sites but also to the collective story of the thirteen World Heritage sites.
Through this education, we contribute to the awareness of the unique and irreplaceable character of the World Heritage in our Kingdom and its value for society. Together, we ensure that the stories of these extraordinary locations remain alive for future generations.
