Free guided tours during Open Monument Day

With September 12, the second year of RUUM comes to an end. Specially for Open Monument Day, there will be free guided tours of the shock concrete barn at 14:00 and 15:00. Visitors will get an insight into the ideas of the young people who have worked on RUUM. They researched how they want to be remembered, what traces their generation leaves behind, and what might be found from them in the Flevoland soil in the future.

The tours also provide an opportunity to view the interior of the shock concrete barn. This is not a given, as the building is not continuously accessible. 

New RUUMclub starts on October 29 

After the exhibition at Schokland, a new phase of the RUUM project begins. On October 29, the first block of a new RUUMclub starts. There are still a few spots available for youth from Flevoland.  

No prior knowledge of art, culture, or heritage is necessary. RUUM is specifically looking for young people with diverse backgrounds and perspectives, who are curious about Flevoland and how the province is made, develops, and is remembered.

Contributing to exhibition at Museum Batavialand 

The new participants will join existing RUUMclub members from, among others, Almere, Lelystad, Emmeloord, and Urk. Together, they will work on the next exhibition year of RUUM, which will take place at Museum Batavialand. During workshops, the youth will become familiar with different aspects of developing an exhibition. They will not only think along but will also have the opportunity to actually contribute to the exhibition production. 

Collaboration between three Flevoland museums 

RUUM is a joint heritage participation project of Jij bent M., Museum Schokland, and Museum Batavialand. The project has been set up by the three Flevoland museums and is made possible by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science from the cultural basic infrastructure (BIS).

Through the collaboration, RUUM travels to different locations and museums in Flevoland. After the current exhibition year at Schokland, Museum Batavialand will be the next location where young people can make their perspective on the heritage and future of the province visible.
