Jos Lussenburg (1889-1975) was a celebrated painter in his time. His work mainly focuses on the Zuiderzee. He captures the atmosphere and bustling activity on and around the old Zuiderzee like no one else.

His paintings featuring seascapes, waves, and fishing boats are also very popular abroad, especially in the United States.
