Schokland is not a stagnant heritage, but a living landscape. The exhibition reveals how water management, soil processes, new nature, and human interventions are constantly intertwined. What we do today with water, soil, and nature determines how Schokland will be preserved for the future.
The exhibition was developed in collaboration with Het Flevo-landschap and designed by Johan Akkerman. In the Pastoriezaal, the connection between archaeology and the protective role of new nature is established. Sensory elements such as sound, scent, and tactile materials make the exhibition a memorable experience for young and old alike.
Living Nature invites visitors to not only look inside but also to experience the entire World Heritage area from a new perspective.

Water Plant Compositions
